Gangadhar Churna – Ayurvedic Classical Medicine:
- Gangadhar Churna is also a well-known therapy for grahani roga and also in diseases associated with the symptoms of diarrhea. This herbal medicine is well known for its astringent and alternative properties.
- This is especially indicated in Sprue Syndrome, diarrhea, and dysentery. Gangadhar Churna also benefits in a fissure in patients.
- This is also helpful in regulating a regularized movement of stools and maintains a quotient of our stool.
- This herbal preparation is known of being Kapha – Vata shamak means it is hot by nature, the action is stronger and removes Kapha and Vata by nature and due to this capability, it helps in expelling Intestinal gases, prevents fermentation and activates digestion and thus improves appetite. It also works on Intestinal obstructions.
- This is a very useful Ama’ removing or detoxifying herbal preparation. It is also a potent pain killer as well as anti-inflammatory. It also improves appetite and is good for the digestive and respiratory systems.

Mustak (Cyperus rotundus)-16.66%, Indra yav(Citrullus colocynthis)- 16.66%, Belgiri (Aegle marmelos)-16.66%, Laudhra (Symplocos racemosa)- 16.66%, Dhataki pushp (Woodfordia fruticosa)-16.66%, Mochras (Salmalia malabarica)-16.66%
Uses of Gangadhar Churna:
- Nagarmotha-Nagarmotha or mustak has been described as its use in diabetes. It is also used in digestive disorders.
- Indrayav-Colocynth is very hot in nature and is a potent purgative. In therapeutic doses, it is used in the management of jaundice.
- Bael-It supports intestinal biological formulations and protects the digestive system from ulceration, reducing the frequency of Irritable Bowel Syndrome (IBS), intestinal spasms.
- Also, it is beneficial in managing diarrhea, dysentery, and other infections of the Elementary canal.
- Laudhra-Lodhra was given by Charak and Sushruta both internally and externally, for bleeding disorders, persistent dysentery, menstrual and urinary disorders.
It effectively works in obstinate skin diseases, acute constipation, piles, abdominal inflammation, intestinal paralysis, dropsy, etc. - Mochras-It is astringent, (used for dysentery) stimulant, demulcent, diuretic, expectorant. It is used for chronic inflammation of the bladder, the kidney also for calculus affections.
- Dhatki pushp-t is used in diarrhea, dysentery (due to its astringent properties). It is also useful in bleeding disorders such as menorrhagia, nasal bleeding, bleeding per rectum.
Indications of Gangadhar Churna:
Useful in diarrhoea, dysentery & sprue.
Side effects:
There is no side effect, but its higher doses cause constipation.
Dosage:
1 gm to 3 gm with water or honey or as directed by the physicians.
