Ushirasava – Ayurvedic Classical Medicine:
The medicine is cooling in nature and mainly indicated in diseases that occur due to excessive heat inside the body and is recommended in urinary problems, bleeding disorders (nose bleeding, rectal bleeding, excessive bleeding after delivery), etc. Ushir is Sheet virya herb, subdues pitta, vata, and increases Kapha.
Composition of Ushirasava:
Each 15 ml. contains:
Ushira (Veteveria zizaniodes), Netrabala (Valariana indica), Padmakh (Prunus cerasoides), Gambhari (Gmelina arborea), Nilotpala (Nymphaea stellata), Priyangu (Callicarpa macrophylla), Rakta kamal (Nelumbo nucifera), Lodhra (Symplocos racemosa), Manjistha (Rubia cordifolia), Dhamasa (Fagonia cretica), Patha (Cissampelos pareira), Chirayita (Swertia chirayita), Nyagrodha (Ficus benghalensis), Udumbhra (Ficus glomerata), Kachur (Curcuma zeodaria), Parpata (Fumaria parviflora).
Shwet kamal (Nelumbo nucifera), Patolapatra (Trichosanthes dioica), Kanchnar chhal (Bauhinia variegata), Jamun (Syzygium cumini), Mochrasa (Salmalia malabarica)1 part (each of the above ingredients), Water for decoction-Q.S. (as per text reference), Reduced to—Q.S. (as per text reference) Dhatki (Woodfordia fruticosa)-16 parts, Guda (Jaggery)-50 parts, Sharkra (Sugar)-100 parts, Munaka (Vitis vinifera)-20 parts.
Prepared and retained as per Asava-Arishta nirmana vidhi.
Indications of Ushirasava:
Ushirasava is indicated in Pandu (anemia), Kustha roga (skin disorders), Prameha (diabetes), Urinary tract infections, Bavaseer (bleeding piles), Shoth (inflammatory diseases), Mutra-krich, etc.
12 to 24 ml with an equal quantity of water twice a day after the meal.
