Description of Brahmi Plant:
Root: Brahmi root shows a single layer of the epidermis, cortex having large air cavities, pericycle is not distinct. Its stele is composed of a thin layer of phloem having a few sieve elements, and isolated material from xylem shows vessels with reticulate thickenings.
Stem: Stem has a single layer of epidermis followed by a wide cortex of thin-walled cells with huge intercellular spaces. It consists of pericycle 3 having 1-2 layers, vascular ring continuous, and is composed of a narrow zone of phloem towards the periphery and a complete circle of xylem towards the center.
Leaf: A single layer of Brahmi leaves has upper and lower epidermis covered with a thin cuticle, glandular hairs sessile, subsidiary cells that present on both surfaces. Mainly it is distributed in mesophyll cells, and mesophyll traversed by small veins surrounded by bundle sheath, and no distinct midrib is present.
Flower: Brahmi flowers are small, axillary, and solitary. Its pedicels are approx 6-30 mm long, and its bracteoles are shorter than pedicels.
Fruit: It is in capsule shape and is up to 5 mm long, ovoid, and glabrous.
